The agreement will facilitate student and faculty exchanges, as well as joint activities, among other things.

Diego Portales University signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Coimbra, a renowned Portuguese institution considered one of the oldest in Europe and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.

This alliance aims to foster academic and student exchanges, as well as scientific and cultural events. The agreement also includes the development of research activities and joint participation in seminars, colloquia, conferences, and other academic events.

“The University of Coimbra stands out as a center for the production and transmission of knowledge, exerting influence across the four continents that comprised the former Portuguese empire,” explained Anoek van den Berg, Director General of International Relations.

“Furthermore, it reflects important periods in the history of architecture, art, and the spatial and cultural organization of Portugal, thus aligning with many aspects of UDP, where we seek to generate synergies,” he added.

The University of Coimbra is a leader in disciplines related to the Humanities and Arts; Social and Legal Sciences; Health and Life Sciences; and Exact Sciences and Engineering. In this sense, this agreement will not only open new development opportunities for the university community, but will also foster the exchange of perspectives and knowledge between members of both institutions.
