CEU Cardenal Herrera University, Spain
Javiera Aspe, a Business student at UDP, completed an exchange at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University in Valencia.
“I can say that going on an exchange has been the ‘strangest’ thing I have done in my life. Obviously not in a bad way, completely the opposite. Step out of my comfort zone. I appreciate the day I stopped overthinking, and I applied. I let my inner child make decisions from its eagerness to know the world.”
Those are Javiera’s first thoughts, a Business student at UDP. She went on an exchange programme at CEU Cardinal Herrera University in Valencia, Spain. She added, “Here I learned about business administration in different areas, overall in terms of organisation design, Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Innovation. I understood how valuable it was to learn these things to contribute as a professional to a new business, a new world. I am so eager to use what I learned in Chile.”
Nevertheless, the new academic knowledge is not all. Still, there are new learnings in soft skills while facing a semester in a new culture, in which Javiera commented to us, “Studying with people from different cultures, knowing different perspectives, other lifestyles, may be very attractive at the beginning, but after that, there is much at stake in the capability of adaptation. When all the ‘attractive’ has to become part of your routine. Despite having been hard in that sense, this opportunity was 100% rewarding, both academically and personally. I have been to many cities that I never thought I would be at my young age. My favourite destinations were: the beaches of Mallorca, Morocco, Prague, London, Budapest, Paris and Rome.”
Finally, Javiera gives us advice to all the future applicants of an exchange: “Sometimes it is better to do things without thinking and to see how it results. The exchange will be an amazing experience, no matter what, full of memories you will remember your whole life.”
