Apply Now for the Geneva Challenge 2026

The 2026 edition of the Geneva Challenge is now open. This international contest, organized by the Geneva Graduate Institute, aims to stimulate innovative solutions for the world’s major global development challenges.

This year, the call invites master’s students from across the globe to submit proposals on the theme: “The Challenges of the Future of Work.”

The challenge seeks innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to transform complex problems into actionable development opportunities through concrete recommendations in public policy, practice, processes, or technology.

Who Can Participate?

  • Teams of 3 to 5 master’s students from all academic programs and any country.

Submission Requirements

Teams must submit an original proposal (maximum 8,000 words) that:

  1. Identifies a challenge related to the future of work.

  2. Conducts an interdisciplinary analysis of how it affects different aspects of development within a specific context (while remaining applicable to other contexts).

  3. Proposes innovations at the policy, practice, process, or technological level, transforming the challenge into a development opportunity.

Prizes and Benefits

  • CHF 25,000 in total cash prizes (one prize per continent).

  • The five finalist teams will be invited to Geneva, Switzerland, to publicly present their work before a high-level panel of experts.

  • Travel and accommodation expenses for the finalists will be fully covered.

  • Registration Deadline: May 20, 2026, at 23:59 CET.

  • Submission Deadline: July 11, 2026, at 23:59 CET.
