Students who received these financial aid grants will be able to cover expenses such as airfare, accommodation, and food, among others.

Diego Portales University, through its General Directorate of International Relations (DGRRII), held a scholarship award ceremony for more than 20 students who will participate in academic exchanges at foreign universities during the second semester of 2026 and the first semester of 2027.

The event, held in the Nicanor Parra Library auditorium, was led by the Director of International Relations, Anoek van den Berg, who highlighted the scope of this student mobility program.

She stated that 52 students will travel abroad this semester, distributed among 30 universities in 8 countries and 3 continents. The students participating in this internationalization experience come from all 10 faculties of UDP. “That’s a significant detail,” the Director emphasized. “This means that international mobility has become a cross-cutting possibility for the institution, which is our purpose as the Directorate General of International Relations,” he commented.

The International Student Mobility Coordinator, Richard Gillibrand, congratulated the students who received these benefits: “We are very happy to award these scholarships, because we know that studying abroad involves an academic, personal, and financial challenge.”

“This financial support allows more students to complete their exchange and make the most of this experience, developing global skills that will be fundamental for their professional future,” he added.

At the event, the UDP International Office awarded 15 scholarships to students from the faculties of Law; Engineering and Sciences; Health and Dentistry; Communication and Literature; and Architecture, Art, and Design. These funds will contribute to financing expenses associated with the exchange, such as airfare, accommodation, and meals, among others.

In addition, five Santander Scholarships of $4,000 each were awarded. Three of these scholarships were awarded to students who will undertake their international exchange programs during the second semester of 2026, while the remaining two will benefit students beginning their exchanges during the first semester of 2027.

Sebastián Bunster, manager of Santander Universities, indicated that this support is fundamental for broadening horizons, strengthening academic paths, and continuing to develop students’ talents. “At Banco Santander, we are convinced that education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and generating a positive impact on society. That is why, for decades, we have promoted initiatives that foster access to new opportunities in education, employability, and entrepreneurship, with the conviction that investing in people is the best way to build a better future,” he stated.

Furthermore, thanks to agreements signed between UDP and universities in the European Union, two Erasmus+ scholarships were awarded: one to a law student and another to a student in the Master’s Program in Cognitive Development for Educational Inclusion. Both students will participate in their exchange program during the second semester of 2026. These scholarships cover round-trip airfare, as well as a monthly stipend to cover living expenses during their stay abroad.

The students also expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to access these financial incentives. Francisca Pérez, a Journalism student whose exchange will take place in South Korea, stated, “I will be able to expand my knowledge and finance a large part of my stay.”

“I hope to grow personally, get to know myself better abroad, challenge myself, and discover what I am capable of, because there are many people who believe in me. I want to give the exchange a purpose and a sense of purpose during my time as an ambassador for Diego Portales University,” she added.

The awarding of these scholarships reflects the University’s commitment to expanding learning opportunities for its student community. Through this process, students will ultimately be able to learn about new realities, develop a global perspective to face specific challenges in their disciplines, and strengthen their adaptation and collaboration skills in diverse contexts.
