The closing activity was organized in conjunction with Globaliza UDP.
On Tuesday, June 23, international students culminated their exchange at Universidad Diego Portales in an intercultural gathering dedicated to Latin America, held in the hall of the Nicanor Parra Library.
Victoria Sarián Barrera, Coordinator of Incoming International Student Mobility, explained that the initiative was conceived as a gathering for those who actively participated in the experience. “It is an intercultural event, designed as a semester-closing farewell for international students and also for UDP students, particularly from Globaliza, who have shared with them during this semester and academic year,” she noted.
The coordinator also highlighted the educational value of these activities for the entire university community. “Students have the opportunity to learn about other cultures, academic experiences, and also the universities or countries with which we have agreements. Likewise, they can get closer to the exchange experience that their peers live here and strengthen academic and personal bonds among students,” she added.
One of the participants was Elena Sklenarova, a student from Newton University in Slovakia, who appreciated the welcoming environment she found at the University. “My experience at UDP was very pleasant. I felt included the entire time, both inside and outside the university. There were many organized instances, especially by Globaliza, which I liked very much,” she commented.
She also emphasized the importance of these spaces for generating bonds between students from different countries. “It is a very important part of the exchange because it is organized by the university and becomes a safe place to meet new people, both international and local students. It is an opportunity to exchange cultures and experiences,” she stated.
For her part, Anna Keller, a student from Munich University of Applied Sciences in Germany, highlighted the support received during her stay. “I felt very welcome here. I always had people to turn to when I needed something, so I felt very safe. I really enjoyed my time at UDP,” she affirmed.
The student also valued the chance to meet people of diverse nationalities and participate in cultural activities organized by the University. “Many times I met people from countries I had never visited or imagined knowing. In addition, I really enjoyed the museum visits, because I probably would not have done them on my own,” she commented.
The activity concluded by reaffirming Universidad Diego Portales’ commitment to internationalization and the construction of a diverse university community, open to dialogue and global learning.
