Call for applications: apply for Visiting Scholars and strengthen international collaboration at UDP

UDP faculty members can now apply for the new call to host international Visiting Scholars, an initiative aimed at strengthening research, teaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the university.

The program, promoted by the General Directorate of International Relations (DGRI) and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (VRII), seeks to facilitate academic stays ranging from 3 weeks to 3 months. These stays are intended to contribute to research activities, teaching, workshops, and seminars across various faculties.

This initiative aims to create an impact across multiple educational levels—both undergraduate and postgraduate—while fostering international networks, joint publications, and curricular enhancement at UDP.

Open Call

The application process is currently open for faculties interested in hosting international scholars of excellence.

Required Documents (in a single PDF):

  • Application letter signed by the Dean (max. 2 pages).
  • CV of the Visiting Scholar (max. 4 pages).
  • Detailed activity plan (min. 2 pages), including a schedule, specific activities, and expected impact.
  • Letter of commitment from the Visiting Scholar.
  • Estimated budget (airfare and accommodation).

Evaluation Criteria:

Applications will be evaluated by the DGRI and VRII based on:

  • Candidate Excellence (30%)
  • Quality of the activity plan (40%)
  • Institutional benefits (30%)

Priority will be given to proposals with an interdisciplinary focus, disciplinary and geographic diversity, and high institutional impact.

Important Dates:

  • April 13, 2026: Call for applications opens.
  • May 15, 2026: Application deadline.
  • May 30, 2026: Publication of results.
  • June to December 2026: Period for academic stays.

Proposals may consider scholars from internationally prestigious universities, as well as other institutions renowned in their respective disciplinary fields.

Participating in this call allows UDP to strengthen its global networks, promote “Internationalization at Home,” and generate new high-level academic collaboration opportunities. Faculties are invited to review the guidelines and consider participating in this initiative.
