Nearly 90 UDP students will carry out their international exchange during the first semester of 2024

28 June 2023

During the first semester of 2024, 87 students from the University will travel abroad to start their student exchange at prestigious academic institutions in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.

The students were selected, after a call that began on April 24 and lasted until the end of May. The process is also part of the UDP International Mobility Program, which allows students to take a semester at a foreign university and subsequently validate the subjects approved through exchange.

Richard Gillibrand, coordinator of International Student Mobility of the General Directorate of International Relations (DGRII), highlighted the call and commented that carrying out a student exchange is always favorable for future professionals.

“The student exchange allows the student body to develop soft skills to function in contexts completely different from the usual ones. In addition, they can access learning that allows them to develop their academic curriculum, ”he said.

Gillibrand also commented that, during the process, UDP students are supported by the team of the General Directorate of International Relations in terms of nomination management and application to foreign universities. The professionals also provide support in terms of building ties with other UDP students who have done student exchanges and with the Alumni community abroad.

“The idea is to provide them with the facilities for their support network abroad, since we know that they will face completely new contexts. Finally, we will also continue to support them with the administrative procedures for their future validation of subjects and other documents that are needed in this process. In addition to the above, monitoring how our students will be abroad is essential, since if someone needs help from Student Welfare, we will be the link for them to receive telematic help ”, he explained.

After this call, the UDP student body must wait for the final results of the nominations to foreign universities. This, so that these institutions can deliver their official letters of acceptance. However, during the second semester the DGRII will open a new call for student exchanges during the second semester of 2024.

Regarding these possible calls, the International Student Mobility Coordinator of the General Directorate of International Relations stressed: “This semester 87 students applied and we had more than 200 places, therefore, I invite future students to continue applying, since we have places “.
