With the participation of renowned American artists, on Tuesday, August 22, the Next Level Academy was held, a cultural exchange program that is led by professionals from the disciplines related to breaking, graffiti, mc/rap and Dj.

The activity began with a master class by Masta Minch, who has developed in the field of breaking, which has allowed him to work with different multinational companies, including Red Bull and Volkswagen. During the day there was also a meeting with visual artists, rappers and dancers, who shared their experiences and showed their different artistic skills.

Indira Vivas, coordinator of American Corner UDP, pointed out that this is the first time that the program has been carried out in Chile and she stated that these activities generate contributions in different areas.

“This meeting is very useful for visual arts or film students, but we know that students have a life outside of academics, where they can express themselves in artistic and musical terms, so we believe that for those who are delving into culture of hip-hop, both in English and Spanish, this is an excellent opportunity to work with international artists,” he said.

Siomara Huanca, a student of the Accountant Auditor career, highlighted the realization of the program at the University and pointed out that, personally, she has always been linked to hip-hop culture. Along these lines, she stated: “It seems to me that this activity is something new and that it allows us to learn more about other cultures and meet new people.”

During this year, American Corner has carried out various initiatives focused on cultural exchange between Chile and the United States. Music presentations, a book club and a film club stand out. For this reason, it is expected that, during this semester, new cultural activities will be developed at the UDP in order to promote the learning of English and North American culture in the student body.
