UDP students prepare to begin their academic exchange

Thursday July 31st, 2025

The General Directorate of International Relations (DGRRII) held a meeting with the University’s students who, this semester, will begin exchange programs at various academic institutions around the world.

The event was held to provide information and practical guidance on document management and how to navigate student life abroad.

“These meetings are important because we prepare students for their exchange experience. We provide practical and administrative information to successfully manage the exchange process, but the most valuable aspect is support in the emotional and cultural aspects. This is a space that allows them to anticipate what they will experience culturally, academically, and personally,” explained Luciano Caro, Outgoing Student Mobility Assistant at the General Directorate of International Relations.

In this regard, the professional maintained that the main recommendation is for students to experience “this experience with an open, flexible, and conscious attitude.” “An exchange is a unique opportunity for personal and cultural growth, and it is normal to face a mix of emotions,” he added.

On the occasion, the students expressed enthusiasm for this internationalization trip and answered their main questions about the process.

“My hope is to learn and experience being alone in a country,” said Antonia Valderrama, a Design student who will be participating in her exchange program in Mexico.

Meanwhile, Andrés Bejarano, a Law student who will be participating in an exchange program at the Autonomous University of Madrid, stated: “I would like to learn a lot, both for my career and for myself. I would like to have many different experiences, learn about the culture of other countries, and also understand law in a different way.”

On this occasion, and thanks to a new agreement signed by the UDP, students will be able to participate in their exchange program at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. Savka Marinovic, a Law student who will be participating in this exchange program, stated that this “is a very important initiative.” “I hope to learn a lot about the culture in Portugal (…), learn about it firsthand, and, well, expand my networks and my experiences in different environments,” he commented.

This semester, 67 students will participate in an academic exchange program. In total, they will attend institutions in 14 countries, including Spain, Mexico, Italy, Germany, and Uruguay.
