Publicity students live an unprecedented experience of internationalization

Within the framework of a new COIL project, a virtual exchange methodology, promoted by the General Directorate of International Relations (DGRRII) in order to promote the internationalization of the University, nearly 20 Publicity students met online with students from American University to begin the second stage of this initiative. This, affter the students had exchanged physical letters to discuss issues related to their respective cultures.

This is a first time implemented project for the UDP Publicity program and is enrolled in the context of the subject called “Brand Narrative”. Led by professors Lilian Baeza (American University) and Daniel Carrasco (Diego Portales University), the project seeks to promote the internationalization of the students of both institutions.

Daniel Carrasco, an academic at the School of Publicity at the Communication and Literature Faculty, said that this instance will allow “opening fields and exploring collaborative topics” through the use of technology. “It is very important that students can have this experience,” he said.

“This is a project that seeks cultural exchange between Chilean students and North American students who are part of a heritage program, that is, who have a Latin origin and who want to rescue that culture and its language,” he explained.

Along witht hat, Katarí Clein, a Publicity student, valued the possibility of being part of this project and indicated that it was exciting to participate in the exchange of letters with the students of American University. “This project is very interesting for us, because it helps us a lot to open up culturally with other people. We will have the possibility to make friends, talk and learn about other cultures. It’s very exciting,” she commented.

In accordance with this, Anoek van den Berg, general director of International Relations, called on young people to take advantage of the experience and highlighted the relationship of the UDP with the American university. “We are very happy to see that our relationship is beginning to expand,” she stressed.

Meanwhile, Paola Ortubia, member of the DGRII team and coordinator of the American University program, stated: “At UDP we have a long history with the American University exchange program. So, having this collaboration, which occurs for the first time in another area of the University, is really important.”

This COIL project will run until the end of November. The idea is that, throughout its development, the teachers in charge of the initiative constantly supervise the work carried out by the young people, who must organize themselves into small autonomous groups to exchange experiences and respond to each of the stages of this initiative. instance.
