On Monday, January 19, at the UDP Casa Central, and in the presence of various authorities, a partnership agreement was signed between the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and <\/span>Diego Portales University<\/b>, formalising the University\u2019s admission into the <\/span>Swedish-Chilean ACCESS Network (Academic Collaboration Chile\u2013Sweden).<\/b><\/p>\n

The signing ceremony included the participation of Provost <\/span>Crist\u00f3bal Mar\u00edn<\/b>, accompanied by the Vice President for Research and Innovation, <\/span>Dr Maite de Cea<\/b>, and <\/span>Carlos Ahumada <\/b>from the General Office of International Relations (DGRRII).<\/span><\/p>\n

The delegation from Lund University\u2014which currently coordinates the ACCESS network\u2014was composed of Vice President <\/span>Lena Eskilsson <\/b>(Deputy Vice-Chancellor), <\/span>Miguel Cornejo<\/b>, and <\/span>Pouneh Eftekhari<\/b>, both Project Managers at the Swedish institution.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the event, a presentation was held on the network’s strategic vision and on UDP’s participation opportunities. This session facilitated dialogue among directors and researchers from different faculties to explore research and academic collaboration opportunities within the ACCESS framework.<\/span><\/p>\n

The participants from Diego Portales University included <\/span>Maite de Cea <\/b>and <\/span>Camila Claps <\/b>(Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation); <\/span>Lorena Or\u00f3stica <\/b>(Faculty of Medicine); <\/span>Claudio Fuentes <\/b>(Social Sciences Research Institute \u2013 ICSO); <\/span>Felipe Alarc\u00f3n <\/b>(Institute of Philosophy); <\/span>Carlos Ahumada <\/b>(DGRRII); <\/span>Christian Peake <\/b>(Faculty of Education); <\/span>Margarita Jans <\/b>and <\/span>Elizabeth Wagemann <\/b>(Faculty of Architecture, Art, and Design); <\/span>Jorge Saavedra <\/b>(Faculty of Communication and Literature); <\/span>Nieves Le\u00f3n <\/b>(Faculty of Law); <\/span>Paula Jofr\u00e9 <\/b>(Institute of Astrophysical Studies); <\/span>Mar\u00eda Paz Rodr\u00edguez <\/b>(Faculty of Health and Dentistry); and <\/span>Rodrigo C\u00e1ceres <\/b>(Faculty of Engineering and Sciences).<\/span><\/p>\n

Miguel Cornejo<\/b>, Project Manager at Lund University, praised UDP\u2019s incorporation into ACCESS: \u201cWe are here representing the coordination of the ACCESS network, and we are very happy that Diego Portales University is a new member of this network.\u201d He also highlighted the recent ACCESS Forum in Concepci\u00f3n, which brought together 200 Chilean and Swedish researchers. \u201cI believe today\u2019s meeting was very fruitful (\u2026) especially in the sense that we could present the process moving forward, the scientific and social challenges both countries face, and how to confront them in a united way using the expertise that exists in Chile and Sweden,\u201d he noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lena Eskilsson<\/b>, Vice President of ACCESS, highlighted that the network has fostered collaboration between Swedish and Chilean universities for more than 10 years. \u201cWe believe it is an excellent opportunity for researchers from Chile and Sweden to meet. Both senior researchers and PhD students come together and work interdisciplinarily across different research areas,\u201d she commented.<\/span><\/p>\n

For <\/span>Maite de Cea<\/b>, UDP Vice President for Research and Innovation, joining the ACCESS programme is a strategic move that positions UDP within an international network of scientific and academic collaboration, strengthening its internationalisation and its integration into global research projects. \u201cIt demonstrates UDP\u2019s commitment to academic networks that work toward the <\/span>Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) <\/b>and global issues, integrating into a platform that has been connecting Chilean and Swedish institutions for a decade,\u201d she mentioned.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Swedish-Chilean ACCESS Network <\/b>brings together universities from both countries to strengthen bilateral collaboration in teaching, research, innovation, and institutional development from an interdisciplinary perspective.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bIn this context, the ACCESS Forum was recently held at the University of Concepci\u00f3n, where UDP participated through the DGRRII and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.
