The General Directorate of International Relations and the Department of General Studies will once again offer an offer of 5 courses that will be taught in English on different topics. Through these courses we seek to promote the development of applied linguistic competence in disciplinary areas, giving space for students to practice their language knowledge in academic contexts.

To encourage and incentivize students to take these courses, we have provided the following incentives and facilitators:

Classes will be taught in English, however, 100% use of this language is not an exclusive requirement, given that the greatest importance is given to learning content. Therefore, the teachers who teach these courses will have flexibility in allowing different dynamics regarding the use of the language, according to the needs and abilities of the students. During the semester the demand and level of use of English will increase.
There will be support available from a teaching assistant in English to resolve doubts, queries and provide support with questions about the language element of the course.
If students finish the course with at least a minimum grade of 4.0, they will be given an additional score of 0.5 to recognize the additional effort and challenge involved in participating in courses in another language.

All these subjects do not require prior knowledge in their subjects or disciplinary areas, however, we do recommend having a minimum level of English to be able to participate, where the ideal is that you have completed English III, or that you can understand, for example, movies and series in English or have a conversation about a topic of interest.

Get motivated to globalize your career at the UDP and you will see the benefits when looking for work in the future, having practiced and applied your English in disciplinary environments.

Why take these subjects?

You will be able to meet students from other parts of the world, since these subjects are part of the course offerings taken by exchange students who visit the UDP.
You will be able to put your language knowledge into practice and lose your fear before, for example, daring to apply for an exchange in a country where knowledge of English is required.
Learn about topics that are of international relevance, which will add to having a global perspective to analyze topics of work interest.
Have fun! The teachers of these subjects are selected people with a CV with many relevant experiences and knowledge that will allow them to open their horizons. They seek to generate a common learning environment where ideas and experiences can be exchanged and there is interaction in the classroom based on respect and empathy.

How to sign up? The registration of these branches is done by registering general branches electronically between January 8 and 12, 2024.

All of these courses have 5 credits.
